Mission Statement

The mission of the NEMGS is to foster genealogical; interest, education and activities in the counties of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle. The Society will encourage the preservation of family histories and genealogical records and make available historical collections of interest to genealogist and the general public.

Meeting Info

The Northeast Michigan Genealogical Society offers four to six meetings annually. Meetings are held in a variety of locations to include Alpena Community College, Alpena Family History Center, George N. Fletcher Alpena Public Library, and Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan.
Most meetings are held the third Saturday of the month. The program schedule is released in the December Newsletter, which  includes topic, speaker, time, location. In addition, we post this information on our Website and facebook page, as well as two local radio stations,True North Radio and WATZ, and is published in The Alpena News Tuesday edition. Reminders are sent to members prior to the meeting. Guest are welcome.
