Mission of NEMGS

The mission of the NEMGS is to foster genealogical interest, education and activities in the counties of Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle. To encourage the preservation of historical collections relative to family history research. To publish material that may be of interest to genealogists and the public.

Meeting Info

The Northeast Michigan Genealogical Society offers four to six meetings annually and are held in a variety of locations to include Alpena Community College, Alpena Family History Center, George N. Fletcher Alpena Public Library, and Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan.
We usually meet the third Saturday of the month and our programs are scheduled for the year including time, location, topic information; reminders are published in the Roots & Branches newsletter of our Society, on our website (, our Facebook Page ( Northeast Michigan Genealogical Society-NEMGS) as well as in the Tuesday edition of The Alpena News, and announced on True North Radio
